Friday Find Part 1: Robert Taylor Ranch | 112-Acre Legendary Brentwood Estate

Would you like to own one percent of Brentwood?

Hidden deep in Mandeville Canyon, you’ll find the legendary Robert Taylor Ranch — one of the most remarkable estates in all of Los Angeles.

The property is so massive that I had to split this Friday Find into two parts.

Today we’re starting with the ranch itself — the guest houses, the stables, and the horses.

The Robert Taylor Ranch spans an incredible 112 acres in Mandeville Canyon.

Within that, approximately 13 acres of flat land form the heart of the ranch, surrounded by nearly 100 acres of private canyon terrain nestled in the Santa Monica Mountains.

As you enter the property, the sheer scale immediately becomes clear. Guest houses line one side of the ranch while the stables and equestrian facilities sit on the other, creating a true compound designed for ranch living in the middle of Los Angeles.

Hidden deep in Brentwood’s Mandeville Canyon, this property feels like its own private world.

To put the size into perspective, 112 acres is roughly the size of 85 football fields — nearly one percent of the entire Brentwood neighborhood.

A property of this size in Los Angeles would be almost impossible to recreate today.

The ranch was originally designed by renowned California architect Robert Byrd and later became the private retreat of MGM film star Robert Taylor, who lived here until 1969.

Taylor was an avid horseman, which is why the ranch still features these beautiful stables and equestrian facilities today.

Fun fact: one of Taylor’s horses was later given to President Ronald Reagan.

Next week we’ll take a look at Part 2 of this Friday Find, where we explore the incredible main house that sits at the center of this legendary estate.
