Last week, we toured the main house at The Anchor of the Canyon, hidden behind gates at the base of Runyon Canyon. This week, we’re exploring the other two historic homes and grounds that make this Hollywood Hills estate so unique.
First up is the 1909 Craftsman.
It has a completely different feeling from the Spanish Revival main residence. The second I walked inside, I couldn’t believe how different it felt. It’s easy to forget you’re still on the same property.
Altogether, the three homes offer:

- more than 10,000 square feet of living space
- over 10 acres
Just outside the Craftsman is a beautiful negative-edge pool surrounded by the hills. You’d never guess a place like this was tucked away right in the heart of Hollywood.
From there, you’ll cross one of my favorite features of the estate — a private bridge connecting the Craftsman to the main house.
There’s also a charming writer’s cottage dating back to the 1880s. Even though I couldn’t go inside, it’s such a fun piece of the property’s history and helps tell the story of how long this remarkable property has been part of the canyon.
The grounds also feature aviaries, beautiful gardens, and private hiking trails spread across more than 10 acres at the base of Runyon Canyon.
Between the three historic homes, private bridge, architecture, gardens, and sheer amount of land, this really is a one-of-a-kind Hollywood Hills estate.
