A cool mid-century home in Crestwood Hills in Brentwood? Check out this week’s Friday Find. FF- midcentury in Crestwood Hil…

With only two owners in the last 75 years, the Grant House is a true architectural gem located in the Crestwood Hills neighborhood of Kenter Canyon in Brentwood.

The home was designed by acclaimed architect A. Quincy Jones, one of the most influential figures in California mid-century modern architecture.

Crestwood Hills itself has a fascinating history.

The neighborhood was established in 1946 during a housing shortage by a group of four musicians from Paramount Studios. They were tired of the uninspired stucco homes being built at the time, so they pooled their resources together to create stylish homes for their young families.

From that idea emerged Crestwood Hills, an architecturally controlled community known today for its high concentration of mid-century modern homes designed by notable architects including:

• A. Quincy Jones
• Whitney R. Smith
• Craig Ellwood
• Richard Neutra

(Does the name Richard Neutra sound familiar? Extra credit if you remember my Friday Find on the West House.)

This particular home was built in 1950 and features 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and just under 2,000 square feet of living space.

The architect’s vision emphasized clean lines and geometric simplicity, which you can see throughout the design.

Inside, the home features vaulted ceilings, clerestory windows, and exposed concrete walls, creating a beautiful balance between openness and privacy.

One of my favorite features is the sunken living room, a classic mid-century design element that adds character and architectural interest to the space.

The home sits on a flat lot and offers wonderful outdoor living areas.

Outside you’ll find two spacious enclosed yards, along with a fire pit, outdoor shower, and welcoming entertaining spaces.

The landscaping is also impressive, featuring more than 100 species of trees and plants throughout the property.

This is truly a rare opportunity to own a piece of architectural history in one of Brentwood’s most unique neighborhoods.

This mid-century Crestwood Hills home is offered for $4,195,000.
